Description

An all-time favorite sweet Filipino dessert made out of mashed purple yam cooked into a jam like consistency which can be eaten as is or can be incorporated into different types and forms of dessert such as pies or pastry filling.

    • Boil yams in a pot, making sure that water is above the yams.
    • Once tender, drain and let it cool down.
    • Peel the yams, cut into smaller pieces and mash.IMG_3081(1)
    • Transfer mashed yams into a wok or pan, add condensed milk, stick butter (cut into smaller pieces) and brown sugar.
    • Cook in medium heat by constantly stirring until it thickens into a paste like consistency for about ten minutes. It is done when the jam is not runny and does not stick to the pan.
    • Serve and enjoy! It can also be incorporated to another form of dessert such as pie or pastry filling.
